Home House London 2026: Membership, Dress Code and Guests

Some London clubs feel like institutions. Home House feels like a party in a palace. Built for Elizabeth, Countess of Home, at 20 Portman Square and transformed in the 1770s by the architect Robert Adam, it still has the hand-painted ceilings, the imperial staircase and the glass dome. Today it is a members' club across three Georgian townhouses in Marylebone, and, unusually, it publishes its fees. Here is how membership, guest access and the dress code work, all checked on the club's own website on October 30, 2026.

The House

According to Spear's, the Countess of Home took the house in 1773 and commissioned Adam two years later to make it one of the most extravagant private homes in London. The club's own website describes restaurants, bars, lounges and a garden, a gym, sauna and steam room, and 23 individually styled bedrooms and suites. A sister club, Home House Studio, at 44 Great Cumberland Place, is designed for working and meeting.

Membership Types and Fees

The Home House membership page lists the following annual rates, all inclusive of VAT, each with a £499 joining fee:

  • Home House Membership: £2,250 a year (or £187.50 a month), with unrestricted access to the House. Main residence in the UK.
  • Under 35's Membership: £1,560 a year (or £130 a month), with full access.
  • Social Membership: £1,440 a year (or £120 a month), for access after 6:00 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends and bank holidays. No gym access.
  • Overseas Membership: £1,560 a year (or £130 a month), with full House access when you are in London. Your main residence must be outside the UK.
  • Corporate Membership: £1,575 a year per member, for groups of five or more.

The club's membership overview also lists a combined Homes membership for both Houses, from £4,450 a year for full access or £2,550 for overseas access.

Why the overseas rate matters

If you live in New York or Paris and spend a few weeks a year in London, the Overseas Membership gives you full access at the same price as the under-35 rate. Paired with a bedroom upstairs, it can make Home House a London base rather than a place you visit.

How to Apply

You begin with the enquiry form linked from the membership page. It asks for your name, mobile number and email, which club interests you (Home House, Home House Studio or both), and how you heard about it, with options that include a member referral, a friend, an event you attended and a hotel stay. The club's terms describe it as a club for its "invited members and guests," so expect a conversation with the membership team rather than an instant yes.

Our advice: visit first. Knowing a member, coming to a private event or staying the night all give you a sense of the House, and give the House a sense of you.

Visiting Without a Membership

Home House is more open than most Mayfair clubs. The club's homepage states that non-members can book to stay in its bedrooms and "experience the club," and its booking page handles hotel rooms, meetings and events, and weddings. As a member's guest, the house rules in the terms apply:

  • Up to three guests per member on any visit, unless a private party or restaurant reservation has been confirmed or the Duty Manager has agreed a larger number.
  • Every guest is signed in by the host member, and the club may charge a daily entrance fee for guests.
  • Guests who arrive early wait until their member arrives to sign them in.
  • Accompanied guests may use the full facilities, except the health spa, which is available for a fee.
  • Children and under-18s are welcome with their parents at weekends and on public holidays until 6:00 pm, but not in the bars.

Phones are allowed throughout the House on silent or vibrate, but never on loudspeaker. Co-working is not permitted, and laptops and conference calls are kept out of the Drawing Rooms, Garden, Restaurant and Health Spa.

The Home House Dress Code

This is the most relaxed code of the great London clubs. The house etiquette says there is "no specific standard or code" and that the club encourages individuality, while reserving the right to refuse admission if dress is considered inappropriate. In practice, Home House is a club where people dress up because the rooms invite it.

What we would wear

  • Daytime: good jeans, a cashmere knit and a sharp blazer, or a midi dress with boots.
  • Dinner: a silk dress or tailored trousers with a statement earring. The candlelit rooms are generous to color.
  • Party nights: themed parties are part of the club's identity, so read the invitation and lean in.

Christmas, New Year's Eve and Club Parties

Home House is known for its parties. For New Year's Eve 2025, the club's own announcement described the House transformed into a Midnight Jazz Club, welcoming 2026 with live music, cocktails and late-night entertainment. Its terms note that the club may hold private parties for members and guests with limited numbers and an additional entrance fee. As of October 30, 2026, Home House had not published its plans for New Year's Eve 2026; members hear first.
