Gala Calendar 2026: New York, London and Paris Compared

The Black-Tie Year three calendars cover: gold pocket watch, Big Ben and Eiffel Tower on navy, green and violet panels

Planning a formal year across three cities is mostly a problem of timing. The galas exist; the dates are simply spread across hundreds of websites, in two languages and four time zones of attention. This gala calendar 2026 guide compares the three editions of The Black-Tie Year, our calendars for New York, London and Paris, so you can see what each one covers, how complete it is, what it leaves out and which one fits the year you want.

All three run from New Year's Eve 2026 to New Year's Eve 2027, month by month. Everything below is taken from the product descriptions and the PDFs themselves.

Three patterns stand out. December is strong everywhere, thanks to holiday galas and New Year's Eve balls. New York peaks in May, when spring benefits cluster. London and Paris both peak in June, when the English Season and the Paris summer of racing and masked balls overlap. If you want to see two cities in one trip, June is the month where London and Paris are both at their busiest. Winter, from January to March, is the quietest stretch in London, while January is surprisingly lively in Paris, with couture week and a gala at the Palais Garnier.

What All Three Include

The three editions share one structure, so once you have used one, you can read the others instantly.

  • Month-by-month nights from New Year's Eve 2026 to New Year's Eve 2027.
  • A status on every date. Confirmed means the organizer has published it. Expected means the date is projected from previous years. Window means the season is known but not yet the day.
  • Ten ambiences: Old Money, Ballroom, Museum & Art, Opera, Ballet & Stage, Young Patrons, Fashion & Glam, Garden & Hats, Equestrian, Masquerade and Romantic.
  • Venue, official website and Instagram for every event, so you can follow organizers directly.
  • Invitation-only nights flagged "By invitation · watch," so you can tell which evenings sell tickets and which simply shape the season.
  • The year at a glance: a chart of nights per month.

What None of Them Include

Being clear here saves disappointment later.

  • No tickets and no guaranteed entry. Each calendar is an independent guide, not affiliated with or endorsed by any organization listed.
  • No step-by-step entry strategy or price guide. The calendars tell you when. The Access, Explained guides tell you how: where to buy, what to wear and how to be.
  • Not every date is final. Between roughly a quarter and less than half of the nights in each edition were confirmed in October 2026. The rest are flagged so you can prepare early and confirm later.
  • Not every party in each city. The focus is galas, balls and black-tie or dress-code evenings that define the formal year.

How Complete Is Each Calendar?

Completeness has two sides: breadth and certainty.

New York is the broadest, with 109 nights, but it also has the lowest share confirmed at publication (27). That reflects how New York works: many benefits announce dates only a few months out. Expect more of its spring and autumn entries to firm up over the year.

London has the highest number confirmed (36 of 83). The English Season runs on long-fixed fixtures such as Royal Ascot, which is scheduled for 15 to 19 June 2027 according to ascot.com.

Paris sits in between, with 31 of 77 confirmed, including the Bal Autrichien on 27 February 2027, per the Association Autrichienne à Paris.

In all three, the late months of 2027 are mostly Expected or Window. That is honest, not incomplete: those organizers have not published yet.
